A few words about surgery and how scary, but rewarding, working at the ECC clinic can be.
Bite wounds are a common cause of trauma in dogs and are usually the result of fights between them.
A degloving injury is a type of avulsion injury in which a large piece of skin is completely torn away from the underlying tissue.
A surgical problem to consider is the blood supply to this part of the skin, which has an important effect on healing.
The pictures show my patient Greyhound Belle being bitten by another dog. It looked terrible at first, the surgery was long and difficult. Skin flap was performed to support the blood supply,
10 days of treatment with painkillers and antibiotics and the patient came in for stitches removal ☺️
