We are often faced with the dilemma of a lack of diagnosis due to financial problems when the owner is reluctant to agree to additional testing, as was the case here. The owner presented with a male German Shepherd that had significantly enlarged mammary glands. Clinical examination revealed no other abnormalities and, as hormones were involved, we suggested that the older dog be neutered. It turned out to be the right decision, as we examined the testicles after the procedure and found a tumour! It was probably a sertolioma tumor that was causing the enlargement of the nipples. The photos show the enlarged glands, their ultrasound image and an exposed tumour in the testicle. Diagnosis by surgery!
